Audio-digital” is an adjective that can be used to indicate that something concerns both audible sound as a phenomenon of the entisphere and the digital infosphere.

The adjective “audio-digital” was coined as part of the terminology of the “Digital Era Framework“. In this frame of reference, four spheres are defined which allows a classification of processes, phenomena and objects according to the type of manifestation of information: The infosphere, which consists of the analog infosphere and the digital infosphere, the cognisphere and the entisphere.

Sensory organs as biological structures belong to the biosphere and the entisphere. From a functional point of view, on the other hand, there is a relation to the cogniphere. Depending on how they are viewed, processes, phenomena and objects that are called “audio-digital” can be of an “enti-digital” or “cogni-digital” nature.
