Several definition approaches can be differentiated:

A “business futurist” as understood in the context of an academic discipline is a person who is academically proven in the field of futurology on the subject complex of the future development of business administration, business life, entrepreneurial activity and the private sector.

A “business futurist” in the professional sense can be defined as an expert whose professional activities focus on developing and disseminating coherent scenarios for the future development of business, entrepreneurship and the private sector.
