The term “digital detox” is sometimes used to refer to a targeted reduction in the use of digital technologies, the extent of which is considered excessive.

The term is used in particular in connection with the excessive use of digital media to the extent described by the terms “Internet addiction” or “online addiction” as a clinical condition.
