An “olfactu-digital system” is a traspheral functional unit consisting of elements of the “physical entisphere” and the “digital infosphere”, which are connected to each other in a way that enables interaction directed towards the fulfilment of a function, a purpose or a task, in which the relationship between odour and digital information is of particular importance.

The term “olfactu-digital system” was coined as part of the terminology of the “Digital Era Framework”. In this reference framework, four spheres are distinguished on the basis of the type of information manifestation, on the basis of which a classification of systems can take place: The infosphere, which consists of the analog infosphere and the digital infosphere, the cognisphere and the entisphere.
