Sphere Switching” is the transition of information from one sphere to another.

The term “Sphere Switching” was coined as part of the terminology of the “Digital Era Framework”. The “Digital Era Framework” serves as a frame of reference for the classification of the way in which information manifests itself. Four spheres of information manifestation are distinguished: The infosphere, which consists of the analog infosphere and the digital infosphere, the cognisphere and the entisphere.

The transition of information from one of these spheres to another is called ” Sphere Switching” and corresponds to the change in the manifestation of information. Such a “Sphere Switching” takes always place via an interface.

In the course of digitalization, the spread of digital information and communication technologies has created a new sphere in which information can manifest itself. In addition, new interfaces have been created. Both developments lead to new forms of “Sphere Switching” of information, which in turn shape the digital transformation of systems.
