A “strategist” is a person who bases his or her actions on a “strategy” in the sense of an ex ante defined overall concept of a combination of coordinated general procedures which makes it possible to take the existing uncertainty over time adequately into account and is thus suitable to achieve an overriding goal aimed for from the onset.

A “strategist” in the professional sense is a person who, as part of his or her professional duties, is responsible for the formulation and, if necessary, the implementation of strategies, or who has profound expertise in the development and implementation of strategies.
