A “value creation grid” is the entirety of the entities and the connections existing between them, which enables an interaction aimed at “value creation” in the sense of a targeted generation of “value”.

A “value creation grid” is the totality of actors and the links between them, which enables interaction aimed at production to cover human needs under the conditions of existing scarcity.

Digitalization and digital transformation are leading to an increasing development of network structures in which value creation is taking place. The terms “value creation grid” and “value creation network” are terms used to take this into account linguistically by differentiating them from the idea of a linear sequence behind the term “value creation chain”. The word “value chain” can be used as a generic term that includes both the “value grid” and the “value creation network”.
